Orders for Californians

Gun violence is a serious problem in California and puts many people at risk. California has protection orders that can help keep people safe. These orders give friends, family, and others a way to step in when someone is in danger. Using protection orders can save lives. Learn how they work and how you can help.

CALIFORNIA’S LIFE-SAVING

Protection Orders

On average, someone is killed by gun violence every three hours in California. Every life lost or threatened by a gun is one too many. That’s why the state has nine types of protection orders that save lives. Among other support, these orders temporarily remove guns from people who might hurt themselves or others.
