The Michigan Daily: Students Demand Action hosts state Rep. Stephanie Young to discuss gun safety

Approximately two dozen people gathered in the Ford School of Public Policy Tuesday evening to discuss gun safety legislation and advocacy in Michigan with state Rep. Stephanie Young, D-Detroit. The event was hosted and moderated by the Students Demand Action chapter at the University of Michigan, a student-led division of the largest gun violence prevention organization in the United States, Everytown for Gun Safety.

“The ERPO is really important,” Schwarz said. “Essentially, if someone is acting dangerously, a family member, a health care provider, a police officer or law enforcement officer can petition for an order to have the individual’s guns removed from them.
