NBC KOBI5: Task force works to identify gaps in firearm suicide prevention in Oregon
A statewide task force focused on firearm suicide prevention is taking a closer look at gaps in Oregon’s current systems to better protect residents at risk.
During a recent meeting, participants discussed ways to ensure that professionals across multiple sectors—from law enforcement to healthcare providers—are aware of tools like Oregon’s Extreme Risk Protection Order (ERPO) law, which allows for the temporary removal of firearms from individuals deemed a threat to themselves or others.
