Maine Morning Star: Panel urges stronger family, court intervention to prevent domestic abuse homicides
A review of domestic violence homicides over the past few years revealed that friends, family members and co-workers often knew that victims were going through domestic abuse, and in many cases tried to help.
Bogue said the panel is “hopeful that the red flag will be helpful,” referring to the Extreme Risk Protection Order referendum that voters passed last November, which will allow family members to petition the court to take guns away from people who are considered a danger to themselves or others.
