Gun Violence Protection

Community E-Tool-Kit

Gun violence is a serious problem in many California communities. Too many people are hurt or killed by guns and even one life lost is too many. That’s why the state created nine types of protection orders. These orders can temporarily take away guns from someone in crisis before something terrible happens.

They give family members, police, employers, school staff, judges and others the power to act when there are warning signs. These tools help stop suicides, mass shootings, domestic violence and other dangers.

If someone you know is thinking about hurting themselves or others, these legal steps can help protect them. Help is available. Taking action can save lives.
